The Backend Engineer will profile server-side latency within Salesforce Commerce Cloud, refactor APIs, design caching layers, and optimize database performance. This role supports load testing, hardens integrations, and mentors client developers on backend best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Profile server-side latency and identify top bottlenecks within Salesforce Commerce Cloud
Refactor APIs for efficiency and reduced payloads
Design and implement caching layers (HTTP, Redis, DB)
Optimize database performance and scalability
Instrument code with APM and custom metrics
Introduce async processing for non-critical tasks
Harden third-party integrations with resilience logic
Collaborate with DevOps on resource limits and CI/CD
Support load and stress testing with realistic data
Conduct peer code reviews for performance and security
Document API contracts and performance improvements
Mentor client backend developers on best practices
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field
Proven backend development and optimization experience within Salesforce Commerce Cloud
Strong understanding of server-side and database systems
Familiarity with CI/CD and observability tools
Strong collaboration and mentoring skills
